Greetings AVANCE Mangum families,

Due to a COVID exposure report and quarantine requirements, only the Early Head Start (infants and toddlers) classes will start on tomorrow, Monday, August 23, 2021.    Head Start (preschool age) classes for Mangum Education Center will NOT begin on August 23^rd. The new start date for Head Start will be announced as soon as possible via email and Brightwheel. We apologize for the inconvenience this change my present for your family; however, the health and wellbeing of your child and AVANCE staff are our top priorities.

We recognize that in-person learning during a pandemic is new for all of us; therefore, some things will go as planned and others will need to be changed along the way; we ask that you remain patient with AVANCE personnel during this time.

Por cuestiones de una exposición al COVID-19 y requisitos de cuarentena, las clases para el programa de Head Start (edad prescolar) en el centro de

AVANCE Mangum no podrán dar inicio como se había programado para mañana lunes 23 de agosto.

La nueva fecha de inicio de Head Start se anunciará lo antes posible por correo electrónico y por la aplicación Brightwheel.

De antemano pedimos disculpas por cualquier inconveniencia que esto pueda ocasionarle.

El regreso a clases en temporada de epidemia es nuevo para todos, por lo tanto, algunas cosas saldrán según lo planeado y otras deberán cambiarse a lo largo del camino; le pedimos que tenga paciencia con el personal de AVANCE durante estos momentos.

AVANCE-Houston stands unequivocally in support of the fight against racial injustice and inequality in our community.
In light of the verbal and physical violence that persons of Asian descent have experienced particularly since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we would like to express our wholehearted support to the Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) community.

Today, we confirmed a report that an AVANCE employee who last visited the Kruse center on March 12th, tested positive for COVID-19.  As a result, we have closed the center for sanitation and disinfectant services. As you are aware, since the COVID-19 pandemic started, we have been monitoring Harris County’s data and guidance.  Subsequently, we have been in consultation with other sources to assist us in deciding to re-open the Early childhood centers for in-person instruction. We are following the recommended health protocols from Harris County Public Health, the City of Houston, and our local Department of Health and Human Services (child care licensing). I hope you are all well and safe. As we know, these last months have been quite unique, challenging, and our routines have certainly changed.
