The Power of Parenting Panel Discussion: A source of inspiration, education, and empowerment for parents.

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, AVANCE-Houston, in a powerful collaboration with the Alley Theater, HEB, Aeolian Manor Foundation, and the Parent-Child Education Program Sponsor Comerica Charity Foundation, hosted a panel discussion on ‘The Power of Parenting: A Generational Impact ‘.

The event welcomed nearly 100 guests, comprising parents from various walks of life, who had the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking conversations and learn from one another. Some key insights from the panelists included the importance of setting boundaries, the value of good nutrition and how this shapes a child’s mental health, and the role of empathy in parenting.

For the second year, this event has been a beacon of inspiration, education, and empowerment for parents, encouraging them to be their best in raising their children.

The panel discussion was followed by a delightful play called “The World is Not Silent.” The story revolves around the relationship between a son and his estranged father, who are trying to reconnect after the father’s hearing loss. The play emphasizes the importance of speaking from the heart and how it can help foster communication and connection. It also explores how language can both unite and divide us.

This play, ‘The World is Not Silent,’ resonates deeply with AVANCE’s values. It beautifully illustrates how parents are their children’s first and most important teachers, and how the home is the first classroom. The story’s emphasis on speaking from the heart and fostering communication and connection aligns perfectly with our belief in the power of open and honest communication in parenting.

For many AVANCE parents, this was their first time attending a live performance, making this event a unique experience for all.

We are proud of the outcome and of being part of a community of parents committed to positively impacting the future generation.
