Inspiring Futures: TechnipFMC Leads Career Development Panel for AVANCE GED Students and AHAA Members

On September 30, AVANCE-Houston had the privilege of hosting a Career Development Panel Discussion presented by TechnipFMC for our GED students and AHAA (AVANCE-Houston Alumni Ambassadors) members. The event was both inspiring and memorable, offering current AVANCE participants and alumni the chance to learn directly from professionals who shared their journeys, challenges, and valuable career advice.

Five TechnipFMC team members came together to speak about key topics including career exploration and job opportunities, skills and preparation, professional growth, and personal motivation. Their stories and insights gave students a clearer picture of what it takes to build a successful career and the many paths that can lead there.

Panelists discussed what inspired them to pursue their current careers, how their first jobs shaped their professional journeys, and what growing fields at TechnipFMC offer opportunities for new talent. They also highlighted the importance of developing both technical and soft skills—such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving—and encouraged participants to continue learning through certifications, training, and volunteer experiences.

In addition to sharing professional guidance, the panelists offered words of encouragement, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, confidence, and self-belief. Many reflected on how their cultural backgrounds and personal stories influenced their success, inspiring students to embrace their own journeys with pride.

The discussion left participants feeling motivated, empowered, and excited about their futures. It was a meaningful exchange that not only provided career insight but also strengthened the connection between the AVANCE community and dedicated corporate partners like TechnipFMC.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the TechnipFMC volunteers for their generosity, energy, and commitment to helping our students grow.

Stay tuned for more opportunities like this open to all current AVANCE participants and alumni as we continue working together to build brighter futures through education and career development.
