RSM Volunteers Transform AVANCE Warehouse Through Hands-On Service

Twenty-five volunteers contributed more than 60 hours of service, tackling a long-overdue warehouse cleanup and building two new storage shelving units to strengthen agency-wide operations.

AVANCE Houston was proud to welcome back 25 dedicated volunteers from RSM US LLP, who spent the morning helping improve one of the agency’s most essential operational spaces. From 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the team worked in the Texas heat to clean, organize, and revitalize AVANCE’s central warehouse.

The warehouse serves as a critical storage hub for Head Start furniture, classroom materials, office equipment, and supplies used across the organization. With the Facilities Team currently operating with limited staffing, undertaking a large-scale warehouse cleanup had been difficult to prioritize despite the growing need.

RSM Volunteers Return to AVANCE for Warehouse Transformation

RSM volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work sorting inventory, organizing materials, removing unwanted items, and improving the overall functionality of the space. In addition to the cleanup effort, the team assembled and installed two storage shelving units, creating additional storage capacity and making it easier for staff to access resources when needed.

The project marked the first warehouse organization initiative of its kind completed by a volunteer group at AVANCE, helping address a task that had been overdue for quite some time.

“The support from RSM came at exactly the right time,” said Linda DeLeon, Director of Facilities at AVANCE Houston. “Warehouse organization isn’t always the most visible work, but it plays an important role in helping our programs operate efficiently. The volunteers brought incredible energy and dedication to this project, and in just a few hours they accomplished work that will have a lasting impact across our agency. We are deeply grateful for their partnership and commitment to our mission.”

Through their dedication and teamwork, RSM volunteers helped create a safer, more organized, and more efficient warehouse environment that will benefit AVANCE staff and programs for years to come.

AVANCE Houston extends its sincere gratitude to RSM and its volunteers for their continued commitment to service and community impact. Their generosity of time and talent helps strengthen the foundation that supports children, families, and communities throughout Houston.

Thank you, RSM, for once again making a meaningful difference at AVANCE Houston.
