PNC and Houston Habitat for Humanity Bring Learning to Life at Kruse EHS

Through the power of community partnership, Houston Habitat for Humanity delivered AVANCE Houston’s fifth playhouse to our Kruse Early Head Start (EHS) Center, creating a joyful and engaging experience for children. The unveiling was met with excitement and smiles, reflecting the impact of investing in spaces that nurture early development.

This special project was made possible through the generous sponsorship of PNC, whose partnership helped bring this imaginative learning space to life for our youngest learners. The playhouse will serve as an engaging environment that encourages creative play, social development, and early learning.

The celebration was even more memorable with the introduction of Elmo and Cookie Monster hand puppets, which quickly became favorites among the children. The puppets sparked laughter, interaction, and joy, captivating the children’s attention and adding to the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the day. The excitement on their faces reflected the importance of creating playful moments that support emotional connection and learning.

In addition to sponsoring the playhouse, PNC also gifted AVANCE Houston with four $200 Lakeshore gift cards, totaling $800, to purchase classroom materials that directly support early childhood instruction at the Kruse EHS Center.

PNC further donated a collection of educational toys accompanied by a teaching manual, designed to promote hands on, real world learning. These items included a toy cash register to introduce early math and financial concepts, toy fruits and vegetables to support lessons on nutrition and healthy habits, and seeds to plant a garden, encouraging children to explore science, responsibility, and nature through interactive play.

AVANCE Houston extends heartfelt thanks to Houston Habitat for Humanity and PNC for their generosity and continued partnership. Their support helps create nurturing learning environments while bringing moments of joy and wonder to the children and families we serve.
