Our annual fundraising celebration held on November 14 was an evening to remember! The highlight of the event was an inspiring Magical Runway of Success featuring 14 AVANCE-Houston children (students and alumni) dressed up in the uniform representing their dream profession. Each child walked the runway joined by none other, than a Houston community leader, representing their profession of choice!
Our Inspiring Dreams 2019 Reception Was a Memorable Celebration- Enjoy Highlights!
From a saluting aspiring soldier, joined by chief officer in the U.S. Navy, Eddie Zuñiga, to a future teacher joined by David Vassar, education leader from Rice University, and our nine-year-old meteorologist Kingston who co-emceed the event with our city’s own, KPRC 2 anchor Khambrel Marshall.
Other careers on the runway included an artist, motivational speaker, veterinarian, lawyer, astronaut among others. We were honored to have the runway choreographed by Broadway performer and choreographer, Michael Baerga who joined us straight from New York City.
Honoree and recipient of the AVANCE-Houston Chairman’s Award was Dr. Stephen Klineberg from Rice University for his commitment to education and contributions to a thriving Houston community.
