AVANCE-Houston and Bank of Texas Empower Families Through Financial Education

On June 20th, AVANCE-Houston hosted an empowering Financial Literacy Workshop on Budgeting and Money Management in collaboration with the Bank of Texas, bringing together program alumni and current participants for a session full of practical tools and valuable insights. The workshop focused on real-life strategies to manage monthly budgets, build savings, and reduce financial stress, skills that are essential for long-term family stability and success. The session sparked thoughtful conversation, with alumni sharing some of their experiences and asking multiple questions.

This event was part of our broader AVANCE Houston Alumni Ambassador initiative, which was launched to continue supporting families beyond their time in our core programs. Through this initiative, alumni are invited to stay connected, build leadership skills, and participate in ongoing workshops that focus on parenting, wellness, financial literacy, and community engagement. The ambassador program also recognizes the strength and experience of our graduates and empowers them to become mentors, advocates, and lifelong learners.

Throughout the year, AVANCE-Houston offers a variety of events and educational opportunities designed to uplift families and strengthen community ties. From financial literacy sessions to career-building seminars and entertainment events, our alumni network is growing into a vibrant, supportive space where knowledge is shared, and lives continue to be transformed. The success of the financial literacy workshop is just one example of how our alumni, community partners, and staff are working together to build a brighter, more informed future for all.

If you’ve participated in any of our programs but haven’t been receiving our alumni updates, we’d love to stay connected. Please email us at alumni@avancehouston.org to join our growing network of empowered AVANCE Houston graduates.

Together, we are building brighter futures, one graduate, one family, and one celebration at a time.
