Another Farmhouse Finds a Home at AVANCE-Houston’s Oakwood Center

The excitement continued at AVANCE-Houston as another charming farmhouse-themed playhouse arrived at our Oakwood Early Head Start/Head Start Center, thanks to the generosity of Houston Habitat for Humanity and Tri Pointe Homes.

Designed to spark imagination and support learning through play, the new farmhouse will serve the 37 children enrolled in Oakwood’s Head Start program, providing a dedicated space to explore, create, and engage in meaningful role-play activities. From pretending to run a farm to working together with classmates, children will strengthen communication, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills while having fun.

Houston Habitat for Humanity delivered the playhouse, generously sponsored by Tri Pointe Homes. The delivery was made seamless through the collaboration of our administrators, teachers, and facilities team, who helped welcome this special addition to the campus.

This farmhouse joins the growing family of playhouses gifted to AVANCE-Houston, further enhancing our outdoor learning environments and creating opportunities for hands-on, child-led learning experiences. While every playhouse is unique, the Oakwood children have already embraced their new space for storytelling, imaginative play, and discovery.

AVANCE-Houston extends its sincere gratitude to Houston Habitat for Humanity, Tri Pointe Homes, and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator Kable Schannette for their continued partnership and investment in early childhood education.

Because when communities come together, they build more than playhouses; they build spaces where children can dream, learn, and grow.
