A Night to Remember: Celebrating the 2025 Graduation of Our Parent-Child Education (PCEP) and GED Programs

On May 29, 2025, the AVANCE Houston community came together for an unforgettable evening filled with pride, inspiration, and celebration as we honored the graduation of our incredible Parent-Child Education (PCEP) and Adult Education (GED) programs. With over 100 attendees in the room, the atmosphere was vibrant and full of emotion, a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of our families.

The event was attended by members of our leadership team, including our Executive Director, Luz Flores, and several distinguished members of our Board of Advisors, including Dr. Nicole Walters, Chair of the Board, and Dr. Faith Ihekweazu, as well as AVANCE supporters. The evening featured heartfelt remarks by Board Advisor Ife Gbosi, who addressed the graduates with warmth and encouragement, recognizing their accomplishments and perseverance.

The ceremony also featured graduates receiving their certificates to resounding applause, with many family members cheering and shedding tears of joy. Several alumni also had the opportunity to share their personal reflections from the school year. One graduate movingly stated, “This program gave me more than an education—it gave me a second chance, and the confidence to keep going.”

To ensure that the connection doesn’t end at graduation, our marketing team welcomed students into the AVANCE-Houston Alumni Ambassadors (AHAA) initiative. Through this program, alumni will have access to upcoming workshops, panel discussions, and community-building events, all designed to support their continued growth and success.

If you’ve participated in any of our programs but haven’t been receiving our alumni updates, we’d love to stay connected. Please email us at alumni@avancehouston.org to join our growing network of empowered AVANCE-Houston graduates.

Together, we are building brighter futures, one graduate, one family, and one celebration at a time.
