ABE/GED

The Adult Basic Education program provides instruction in mathematics, reading, and writing at grade level of (ABE) 0 - 8.9 / (GED) 8.9 -12.0

Adult Secondary education (ASE) provides instruction in preparing the students to take the GED (General Education Development) Test.

El programa de educación básica para adultos provee instrucción en matemáicas, lectura y escritura en grados de (ABE) 0 - 8.9 / (GED) 8.9 -12.0

El programa ASE, Educación Secundaria para Adultos provee instrucción para preparar a los estudiantes para la prueba del GED.

OBJECTIVE

AVANCE provides Adult Education Programs which involve a continuum of learning that enable individuall to achieve his or her goals, to develop his / her knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in the society.

          

AVANCE’s GED students had the opportunity to go on a field trip to Houston Community College Central Campus on October 12, 2011. Upon arrival they were greeted by Mr. Kendrick Gibson, Student Recruiter (double check his title), who provided valuable information, and explained to students the many options HCCS offers; from career counseling, financial aid and steps to reach their educational goals.

After a brief Q&A session, the students were given a tour around the modern educational facility and they saw first-hand the vast array of programs available to them.

The goal of these field trips is to motivate the students to earn their GED certificates so that they can move forward and work towards a college degree.
