AVANCE-Houston is Awarded a Five-Year Contract

for Head Start/Early Head Start Services

The Office of Head Start has awarded AVANCE-Houston, Inc. a five-year contract to provide Early Head Start and Head Start services to children 0-5 years of age. The new grant cycle runs from July 1, 2020-June 30, 2025 and the annual award amount is $20,578,728 million. AVANCE-Houston’s funded enrollment will allow for the provision of Early Head Start services for 374 infants and toddlers and Head Start services for 1,353 preschool children, of which 540 Head Start children will be served directly by a local school district.  With multiple funding sources, AVANCE-Houston serves nearly 4,000 families annually throughout Greater Houston, providing parenting, early childhood, and adult education services. This includes the provision of Early Head Start and Head Start services for over 20 years.

“We are proud to be recipients of this grant once again, and we greatly appreciate the continued trust from the Office of Head Start,” said Luz Flores, AVANCE-Houston’s executive director. “Over the years we have seen the positive impact of these programs in children.  Head Start not only gives them confidence and prepares them for school but through our family engagement model, we are able to reach the entire family and work with them in areas that also benefit the children’s academic and overall well-being—placing them on a path to life-long success.”
