Your Support Makes a Difference Today

AVANCE has an immediate and real-life impact. Last year alone, AVANCE was able to partner with non-profit organizations and corporate citizens to achieve incredible results that benefited more than 2,000 families and improved thousands of lives. Some recent Parent and Child Education Program Successes of the programs as a whole are:

  • In 2009, Changing the Odds for Children at Risk, a book by Susan B. Neuman, former assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education, features the AVANCE model as one of the seven programs with a promising evidence base.
  • On June 24, 2009, the Leadership Houston recognized AVANCE–Houston for the leadership shown in the planning and implantation of the Parent and Child Education Programs.
  • In 2008, Hispanic Business magazine listed AVANCE as the eighth largest national, Hispanic non-profit organization.
  •  In March 2007, the National Task Force on Early Childhood Education for Hispanics cited AVANCE as one of three top early childhood and family education programs nationwide.
  • AVANCE has been cited as a family literacy model in books by former First Ladies Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton, Rosalind Carter, and discussed in numerous academic and media sources.

An Investment in the Future

AVANCE positively enriches the lives of children and parents who participate in our programs each year. AVANCE children are the leaders of tomorrow. By investing in their education, you have the power to positively shape their future. Adult participants gain valuable leadership, communication, problem solving skills and their children receive the necessary education to help break the cycle of poverty. AVANCE-Houston unlocks America’s potential by building stronger children, parents, families, and communities.  We do this through enhancing parenting skills, literacy and children’s education, which nurture the optimal development of children, promote educational success, and foster the personal and economic success of families.

As long-time providers of services geared toward Hispanic families, all of our programs and social support services are available in both English and Spanish. By being aware of the challenges and strengths that low-income, often new Hispanic families possess, we are able to fortify the community from within while we cultivate them in making themselves and their children more competitive in the broader society.

Your Financial Support Is Essential

AVANCE Parent & Child programs are privately funded entirely by contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations. It is the individual contributions from friends like you that enable us to continue to achieve excellence in programming and touch more lives.

AVANCE does not require participants to pay a participation fee, covers only 100 percent of program expenses. We leverage every donation with hundreds of hours of adult volunteer support.

Your support is needed to assist financially challenged participants. This helps AVANCE continue to expand our reach and to ensure we can maintain the high quality of our programs.

Your Donation May Be Tax Deductible

AVANCE is recognized as a charitable/educational organization under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service Code. Donations to AVANCE are tax deductible as allowed by law.
