Saturday, October 10th, 2015 marked the annual worldwide Global Cardboard Challenge, and AVANCE children across Houston Joined this event created by the Imagination Foundation, with the purpose of fostering children’s education, creativity, entrepreneurship and and enforcing recycling awareness.
The grounds of the Wildcat Golf Course marked another successful milestone for AVANCE on November 2nd. A total of 70 golfers; 14 teams, took advantage of the ideal weather conditions and breathtaking scenery to have some fun playing golf while supporting our mission.
Former NFL Houston Oilers coach, Ed Biles and other NFL legends Allen Angel, Charley Frazier, Carel Stith, Robert Hubble, Charles Davis, Ira Mathews, Sherman Smith, Jonathan Stupar, and Willie Tullis played teamed up with our sponsors for nearly 5 hours of fun on the golf course, with the ultimate goal of Transforming our Community Through Education.
Univision’s Spanish National morning TV show Despierta América (Wake-Up America) visited AVANCE-Houston to do a feature story on our Parent-Child Education Program (PCEP). The story featured Nancy Serrano, an exemplary AVANCE grandmother who has used the tools and knowledge gained in the program to become an excellent partner in her grandson’s education.
