Letter from the Center Administrator
The staff at AVANCE Oakwood Head Start would like to welcome all parents and acknowledge them as their child’s first teacher. My name is Inger Clark; I am the Center Administrator here at Oakwood. The Program Assistant is Maria Gonzalez.
The entire team here at Oakwood believes in the AVANCE Mission. Unlocking America’s potential by strengthening families in at-risk communities through effective parent education and support programs.
Children who enter Oakwood are given great opportunities for learning through play and a strong academic base. The teaching team at Oakwood also understands that each child is unique and with different learning styles. Through differentiation teachers are able to use a variety of methods and activities to reach each child within a small or large group. AVANCE uses a strong grounded scientific-based researched curriculum, used by the teachers with focus on the four domains of development which are physical, social, cognitive and emotional Development.
Our belief is that parents must take an active role in their child’s educational experience. The child should see both mom and dad as an active participant in their education. Children are successful in school when parents stay involved. Contact me today to learn how you can get involved in your child’s education.
You are welcome to speak with our Family Development Workers, Michael Yost or Marie Ramos to learn about any community resources we have available to you.
