The Houston Chapter wishes Noriega success in his future endeavors.

San Antonio—After seven years of dedicated service, Richard Noriega has retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of AVANCE, a national two-generation nonprofit. Under his leadership, AVANCE has established innovative partnerships and community ventures including expansion to states across the southwest.

“I am humbled to have been part of a team that has served thousands of families and children,” said Noriega, “I want to thank all involved for this incredible life opportunity to serve.”

Under his leadership, AVANCE was awarded a $12million W.K. Kellogg Foundation grant to study the cross-cultural adaptability of the AVANCE Parent-Child Education Program. In 2015, the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics selected AVANCE as a Bright Spot in Hispanic Education. Additionally, AVANCE’s Commitment to Action was announced by Former President Barack Obama as part of the initiative’s Year of Action.

“We appreciate all that Rick has done for AVANCE. He has positioned the organization to be a national leader in the two-generation social space and we thank him,” said Olga Rodriguez, National Board Chair.

Noriega had presented to the National Conference of State Legislatures and at the national summit on Hispanic early learning held by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics and its President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.

He has been featured on NBC’s Education Nation and was selected for investment as a Social Entrepreneur by New Profit Inc. Hispanic Business Magazine named Noriega one of the ‘Top 100 Influential Hispanics in the United States’ and recognized AVANCE to their ‘Top 25Nonprofits’ list for eight consecutive years.

With Noriega’s retirement, Elida Gonzales will serve as interim Chief Operating Officer.
