Letter from the Center Administrator

WELCOME to Mt. Houston Head Start!

My name is Sonya Jones, Center Administrator. My staff and I would like to extend a warm WELCOME to all the children and families we will serve this program year.

Mt. Houston Head Start is commited to providing an educational environment with qualified, experienced teachers and support staff for our students and their families while embracing cultural and ethnic diversities. Our children benefit from receiving a strong foundation in academics, and the development of social/emotional and motor skills. In addition, the families have the opportunity to participate in their child’s learning through the weekly family activity packets, monthly parent meetings, and volunteer opportunities.

Mt. Houston Head Start  families have access to adult education classes, such as GED, ESL, Computer, Parenting Education, Fatherhood and Healthy Relationship. To meet the special needs of a child or the family, our health, nutrition, intervention and social services collaborate to provide guidance and resources. Research shows that children have more success in school and life when they have the support of caring adults and good role models.

At Mt. Houston Head Start , every day has the potential to be “great” because each child has “great” potential.
