AVANCE is United Way Agency and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are dependent on government funds; United Way allocations; foundation and corporate dollars; and individual donors and volunteers to help us provide literacy and support services that give hope and opportunity to the people we serve. We are grateful to our supporters for their investment in AVANCE families and we welcome you to come and join our family of supporters. Volunteer!

Volunteer Opportunities:

AVANCE is dependent on our individual and corporate volunteers to help us with ongoing activities as well as single event volunteer opportunities. Sample activities are outlined below. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering with AVANCE please contact John Josiah at 713-812-0033 ext 166 or Jjosiah@avancehouston.org
 

·        Reading to children in our classrooms during weekly or biweekly storytelling time (weekday morning/afternoon)

·        Arts and Crafts aid to children in our classrooms (weekday morning/afternoon)

·        Help in classrooms for special days, such as our in house petting zoo or magic show, that require extra adult supervision (weekday morning)

·        Fishing Trip aids to join our annual parent-child fishing trip taking place in June (weekend)

·        Holiday helpers to aid us in delivering donated toys to our children, executing a Thanksgiving meal and having a fall festival for our families (variable)

·        Special corporate projects including painting days, gardening our centers, organizing our library and more
