The Cat in the Hat Visited Mangum!

Legendary Dr. Seuss’ completed 107 magical years of life, and to celebrate him the children at Mangum Education Center received the visit of the beloved character “The Cat in the Hat”. In preparations for its arrival, teachers created a themed hat from one of Dr. Seuss’ stories, which were ready by the time The Cat arrived.

That day after the children took their mid-morning “cat” nap, the “Cat in the Hat” came to visit each classroom where all the children sang happy birthday to Dr. Seuss and enjoyed a delightful time playing, dancing and reading stories. Center staff members were thrilled to be part of this special event, Mrs. Hilda Vasquez, teacher aide substitute dressed up in costume, Miss Alma Rodriguez and Alejandra Salazar dressed as “Thing 1 and Thing 2” with t-shirts designed by Mrs. Eva Sawe’s sister.

You can visit “The Cat” http://www.seussville.com/ to wish him Happy Birthday! Once there you will also find beautiful printable activities, cards, stories and lots of educational fun!
