Something very exciting is happening at AVANCE.  Plans are underway for our 2010 Annual Celebration, and we would be absolutely thrilled to have you join us on February 12th at the Houston Hilton Post Oak.

 Founded in Texas, AVANCE is a non-profit organization that has been serving the needs of the hardest-to-reach families, primarily Hispanic parents and children, since 1973.  We have developed an array of services such as: parent-child education programs, early childhood development classes, adult literacy, GED and ESL classes, fatherhood instruction, home visitations, counseling and medical/psychological referral services.  AVANCE’s mission is to unlock America’s potential by working with low-income and at-risk communities and advancing them from historic cycles of poverty and illiteracy into a future of opportunity and economic prosperity.

 AVANCE is extremely proud to announce our 2010 honoree, Mr. Michael J. Cordúa, owner of Cordúa Restaurants.  Mr. Cordúa has received local and national acclaim for his creative ideas and artful presentation and was formerly named the “Male Entrepreneur of the Year" by the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  Mr. Cordúa may be a busy restaurateur, but he still finds time to constantly give back to the community.  Not only has he generously donated to Casa de Esperanza, a non-profit crisis center for HIV-positive infants and children under the age of six who are at-risk, Mr. Cordúa has also raised millions for this and other worthy charities.  Please join us in honoring the accomplished, generous and very deserving Mr. Michael Cordúa.

 Our annual celebration serves many purposes, but most importantly, it gathers our diverse group of supporters into one room and allows us the opportunity to thank everyone who helped grant us a wonderful year.  We are very fortunate to have ICON Information Consultants’ President and CEO, Pamela Chambers O’Rourke, and CenterPoint Energy’s Program Manager-Corporate Community Relations, Gloria A. Luna as our 2010 Annual Celebration co-chairs.  Under their leadership, AVANCE will host a cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, live band, casino, silent auction and much more.  This is guaranteed to be a night of fun and memories you do not want to miss.  What a wonderful way to be with friends and kickoff the Valentine’s weekend.

On February 12th, 2010, AVANCE will present its annual celebration at the Hilton Post Oak at 6:30pm.  The 2010 theme, “Love is all Around”, will continue AVANCE’s long history of supporting the economically challenged families in the Houston area.

Michael J. Cordúa, owner of Cordúa Restaurants (Churrascos, Artista, Américas, and Amazón Grill) is graciously inviting 5 lucky couples to his home in Houston for a deliciously unforgettable night.  These guests will enjoy a seven course home-cooked meal prepared by the head chef himself.  Starting bid will be $10,000.00.
