Second “Relationship
Abundance” Retreat

Relationship retreats are a great way to enhance your relationship with
your partner, get through a crisis, or get moving on long term problems.
Most retreats provide a way to step away from your daily routines and
concentrate on your relationship. Well this retreat did that and a whole
lot more. On August 14-15, 2009, the Head Start Healthy Family Program
hosted their 2nd “Relationship Abundance” retreat at the Crown Plaza
North, Greenspoint Hotel.
We started the weekend off with a lovely dinner and workshop about the
importance of communication and being able to say what you want to your
partner, so that you can get what you want from your partner. Our
facilitators, Nigel Archibald and Linda Gatlin, did a great job of
modeling for us communication techniques that are helpful and not
harmful. After we concluded the workshop, we finished the night off with
an amazing live band as we danced the night away under the stars.
More than 20 couple joined us for a fun filled weekend. We look forward
to our 3rd “Relationship Abundance” retreat with more couples, more fun,
and more life-lasting memories!

Relationship Abundance Retreat

On the
weekend of June 5th, 2009, The AVANCE Healthy Marriage III
program hosted its first annual couples retreat with the theme “Relationship
Abundance”.
As the
couples began to arrive at the Crown Plaza Friday afternoon with their
packed bags and eager smiles, we knew that this was going to be a
life-changing weekend filled with lots of laughs, plenty of love, and
interesting presentations and workshops from our experienced
facilitators.
Our
facilitators, Nakia and Thelissa Edwards spoke to the participants and
emphasized the importance of learning a powerful assortment of tools to
make positive changes, and to take home new tools to stay on a positive
track. They guided couples to becoming better communicators, more
effective conflict managers, and more supportive partners, lovers and
friends.
Our
parents were treated to a dynamic and unforgettable weekend, chock-full
of activities that they truly enjoyed and shared with each other. We
had a great turnout with over 20 parents participating in our first
retreat.
