During our luncheon we had two special guests: Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who presented AVANCE with a check for $285,000 on behalf of the US Department of Education, and Ms. Gracie Saenz, former Houston City Council member who greeted the parents and encouraged them to continue advocating for their children's education.
