OBJECTIVE
AVANCE provides its Adult Literacy Program
for our Head Start and Early Head Start participants. The
AVANCE educational programs involve a continuum of learning to
enable an individual to achieve his or her goals, to develop his
or her knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in the
wider society.
AVANCE provee programas de
educación para adultos a nuestros participantes de Head Start y
Early Head start. Los programas educativos ofrecen a los
estudiantes el conocimiento y herramientas necesarias para
lograr éxito en el empleo y su desenvolvimiento social.
CURRICULUM
The Adult educational
programs are supported by the TEA (Texas Education Agency)
through its standardized curriculum.
Nuestro plan educativo es
apoyado por TEA (Agencia Educativa de Texas ) a través de su
currículum estandarizado.
SEMESTERS:
For ABE/GED, ESL and Computer Classes, we
offer two semesters during the year. The first semester begins
is from September to December, and the second
semester is from January to May.
Para las clases de ofrecemos dos semestres
durante el año, el primero inicia de septiembre a diciembre y el
segundo de enero a mayo.
During the semester we have
guest speakers who talk to the students about diverse topics,
which include the diverse resources within the community, such
as the First Time Home Buyers Program, Budgeting, etc. For our
students, one of the main topics is the financial assistance for
those participants interested in pursuing a career and who wish
to attend college.
Durante el semestre
recibimos a invitados especiales quienes hablan a los
estudiantes sobre diversos temas, los que incluyen la diversidad
de recursos en la comunidad como lo son los programas para
comprador de casa por primera vez, presupuestos, etc. Entre los
temas principales se habla sobre el apoyo financiero para
aquellos estudiantes interesados en seguir una carrera
profesional y desean asistir a la universidad.

ABE/GED
The Adult Basic Education program provides
instruction in mathematics, reading,
and writing at grade level of (ABE) 0 - 8.9 /
(GED) 8.9

Adult Secondary education (ASE)
provides instruction in preparing the
students to take the GED (General Education Development)
Test.

levels for
adults who are unable to speak, read or write the English

COMPUTER
CLASSES
The computer classes
encompass the basic understanding of computer hardware and
software including word processing, PowerPoint, file
management, email, and web browsing.
Las clases de
computación comprenden el conocimiento inicial de las
computadoras, desde el equipo físico (aparato y sus
componentes) hasta el software, el que incluye Word (procesador
de palabras), PowerPoint, para presentaciones gráficas,
manejo de archivos, correo electrónico y navegación en el
Internet.
